Kids for Kids Inaugural Cornhole Tournament

If you’re familiar with the game of cornhole, most likely you’re picturing a warm summer afternoon at a backyard bar-b-que, not the middle of a NYC winter on the 40th floor of a Manhattan high rise.

But that’s where we kicked off the Inaugural Kids for Kids Cornhole Tournament, which raised $35,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Names like Team Noveau, Cupcakes, Pete Squared, Wildcats for Life!, and We R Cornholio (#1, #2, and #3) made up the 64 pairs of teams that faced off under the glow of the Empire State Building.

As teams were eliminated, they could still enjoy games of flip cup and beer pong or bid on some of the amazing auction items, which included a BBQ set, wine packages, a basketball signed by Stephen Curry, and a seat from the original NY Yankees Stadium.

Players could also fill up on delicious food provided by Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern.

After five intense rounds, the finals came down to team We R Cornholio #1 (Jeff Holter and Christopher Plummer), who edged out team S.O.S (Mike Nole and Eric Wolf).

The official trophy will be engraved with their names, which they get to keep for the next year, when they defend their title as reigning champs.

“I love this night and I love everyone that’s here,” says Robert Catalano. “We are having a really great time and thank everyone who made it possible.”
