Throughout the month of May, our Junior Committee continued to come together to give back to their communities and families during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Thinking of unique ways to help out during this difficult time was definitely a challenge, but our Junior Committee really stepped up to the plate! Members went above and beyond to make sure they were giving back to their communities through both fundraising and good deeds! Here are some of the ways our Kids made a BIG difference this past month:

Sofia and Juliana Biondi joined the Kids for Kids Feeding First Responders initiative when they met up with our Vice Chair of Events, Paul Lombardozzi, to distribute food to the healthcare workers at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island. In addition to helping their community, Sofia and Juliana also helped their grandparents by making sure that they were ready for the warmer weather coming soon! The girls prepped their garden and planted flowers for them in their backyard. Although Covid-19 has kept them apart, Sofia and Juliana continue to check in with their grandparents during FaceTime calls. Awesome work, girls!

Isabella LiMandri spent this month cooking for those in need. Isabella, along with her mom and brother, cooked a delicious homemade Italian meal for the healthcare workers at Kids for Kids’ beneficiary St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. She also used her awesome kitchen skills to cook for her senior veteran neighbors and deliver them flowers (keeping a social distance, of course!). Way to go, Isabella!

Alessandra and Annalisa Di Paolo thanked their family friend, Dr. Mike, with an organized car parade. They also made sure Dr. Mike, who is an essential healthcare worker, was well fed with a delicious meal! Excellent job, girls!

Isabella Basso used her amazing baking skills to help put a smile on her fellow graduates’ faces! Isabella and her classmates are not going to be able to experience a “normal” high school graduation due to the pandemic. However, their quarantined graduations were made a little sweeter after Isabella took the time to bake her fellow graduating friends cookies and cupcakes decorated with their future college colors! Next year, Isabella will be attending St. Johns University majoring in Biomedical Sciences. Great job Isabella, and best of luck at college!

In addition to the work of these awesome individuals, our Junior Committee as a whole has accomplished some great things throughout this past month! Over 200 virtual and handwritten Thank You cards were sent out to their donors, healthcare workers, and family members. We’re sure all of those messages put a much-needed smile on people’s faces! The Junior Committee continued to spread awareness and raise funds this month by participating in our Partner in a Kid’s Future program, and promoting our mission on their own social media platforms. Additionally, Junior Committee members continued to tutor children from the Boys and Girls Club, reach out to their “Adopted Grandparents,” and send cards to our first responders.

Putting the FUN in fundraising!

A special shout-out goes to the Long Island Junior Committee, who got involved in the fundraising action this month by raising $2,000 in just three short weeks! They also recruited four new members to become part of the Committee! This accomplishment is extremely impressive as many of our Long Island members are new to the foundation, and they went the extra mile by taking the time to research and learn more about the Kids for Kids mission and our beneficiaries before sending out their personal fundraising page to their friends and family.

Even through all the challenges they’ve faced throughout the past month, our Junior Committee has really gone above and beyond to spread awareness about the Kids for Kids mission and do good deeds for their community! We have seen so many creative ideas for meeting fundraising goals and giving back. We can’t wait to see their continued success in the month of June and months to come!
