A Joyous Occasion
Despite this year’s limitations, our 11th Annual Kids for Kids Golf Outing was a massive success. A huge thank you to everyone involved for making it such a joyous occasion in support of the children and families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We could not have done it without you! Below, we’re going to recap the day, showcase our golf and raffle winners, and let you know about some upcoming Kids for Kids events.
A Day of Golf
Our annual outing was hosted at the beautiful Glen Oaks Club and started off with a delicious breakfast spread on the clubhouse patio as our golfers arrived. Shortly after, our 30 foursomes headed onto the course to begin golfing and were met at several stations by representatives of our Junior Committee. Philip Bicocchi, the former Junior Committee President and Mike Burke Jr., the current Junior Committee President raised over $2,000 by running our Beat the Pro stations. We had many winners on the day, each receiving a certificate to the Glen Oaks Club Pro Shop to get some gear of their choice! Our Lowest Gross Foursome included Michael Madarash, Howard Freilich, Thomas Romano, and Greg Tellone from Blondies Tree House & Continuity Centers. Our Lowest Net Foursome included Bradley Gruber, John Baldassarri Sr., John Baldassarri Jr., and Shaun Brady from Uneeda Enterprises. Bradley Gruber also won our Men’s Longest Drive contest, while our Ladies Longest Drive winner was Carrie Gerazounis. Our winner of the Closest to the Pin contest was David Quinn. Congratulations to all of our golf winners, and a gracious thank you to the staff at the Glen Oaks Club for making this event a success!
A Program to Remember
After testing our golfer’s skills, we began our cocktail hour and the program for the night. The program included special messages from the Kids for Kids Team, including Golf Committee Lead and Kids for Kids Founder, Joseph Capone. The program also included the announcement of the aforementioned golf winners, the drawing of winners in our virtual raffle, and most importantly, a story to connect all of our guests to the children and families at St. Jude who they were supporting by joining us for the day.
Our 2019 St. Jude Patient Speaker, Paula Head, the mother of a St. Jude patient, recorded a heartfelt video message and said “I could not let your golf tournament go by without saying how much y’all mean to the families still in the fight at St. Jude…Pandemic or no pandemic. Families are still in the fight for their children’s lives”. See Paula’s full message here. During the program, we also got to see a special video message from St. Jude patient, Jazzy, and her mother Mykal, on their family’s story. Being a local family from Rochester, NY, their experience reminded our guests that St. Jude is treating and saving the lives of children not far from where we were all gathered. Artwork from St. Jude patients Ainsley, Tayde, and Victoria were on display in our silent auction, and with the St. Jude Experience App, we were able to see each piece come to life.
At the closing of this year’s golf outing, we all walked away with some fantastic prizes, unforgettable memories, and a big reminder of how important it is that the children and families of St. Jude receive the medical care they need. Congratulations to all of our golf winners and our two Rolex raffle winners! Jon Cook walked away with a Rolex Yacht Master Ladies Luxury 37mm watch and Todd Marcus won the Rolex Yacht Master II Men’s Luxury 44mm watch.
A Huge Help to Children in Need
This event and the money it raised could not have been achieved without the steadfast support of our Presenting Sponsor, A1 Group. In their third year as our Presenting Sponsor, Vincent and John Malizia showed no hesitation in providing the level of support the Kids for Kids Team needed to recruit sponsors of all levels and sell out all 30 foursomes, with even more on the waitlist!
We also had several Exclusive Sponsors that made this day possible: Caddie Bib Sponsor – Uneeda Enterprises, Pin Flag Sponsor – East End Group, and Tee Marker Sponsor – K&E Auto Body & Collision Center. In total, we now have nearly $300,000 in funds raised for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is an incredible feat and something that these children and families need now more than ever.
